Where light becomes language, and every frame tells an untold story.
With over four decades behind the lens, I've come to understand that photography is not the art of capturing reality — it's the art of revealing the reality hidden within ordinary moments. Every image begins with silence, with waiting, with the willingness to be surprised.
Based in Santa Barbara, California, my work spans the vast visual landscape of the American West — its oceanic light, its granite silence, its human texture. I bring to each image the same cross-disciplinary curiosity that has shaped my career across music, technology, and the visual arts.
My photography is available as museum-quality archival prints, as limited-edition artist proofs, and through bespoke commissions for collectors, institutions, and private clients who value the irreplaceable.

Abstract studies drawn from musical geometry and visual theory — light as mathematics, shadow as rest.

Every print begins with intention and ends with precision. Here is how I work.
Photography begins before the camera appears. I spend time with a location — its rhythm, its light cycles, its human texture — until the right moment becomes inevitable.
Shot on medium-format digital or large-format film depending on the project's demands. I favor natural light, minimal intervention, and the willingness to wait as long as the image requires.
Post-processing is treated as a darkroom craft, not a correction. Color, tone, and luminosity are developed to honor what the eye actually saw — not what the sensor recorded.
Printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag or Fine Art Pearl, using archival pigment inks rated for 100+ years. Each print is signed, numbered, embossed, and issued with a certificate of authenticity.
Ben's photographs don't decorate a room — they inhabit it. The Pacific Light series we acquired has become the visual center of our home. Worth every penny, and we've purchased from three galleries over the years.
We commissioned Ben for our firm's main reception space. The result was transformative. He spent time understanding our culture and delivered a single image that has sparked more client conversations than any piece of branding we've ever done.
The print quality is extraordinary. I've purchased fine art photography from galleries in New York and Los Angeles, and Ben's archival output stands with the best of them. His attention to color accuracy and paper selection is meticulous.
Whether you're acquiring a print from an existing series, commissioning a new work for your home or institution, or seeking a custom portrait session — I welcome conversations with serious collectors and clients.
